Watch the below video. Why do we approach fear in the way we do? We put ourselves in danger every day and we are fearful everyday. You only have one chance to live so you should make the most out of it.
Watch this video & read the following article. In the article it states, "It’s projected that in the next decade there will be about 1 million more U.S. jobs in the tech sector than computer science graduates to fill them. And it’s estimated that only about 10 percent of K-12 schools teach computer science." That said ONE MILLION more jobs in the tech sector than graduates to fill them! A job with such a high demand for graduates results in EXCELLENT salaries, EXCELLENT benefits and EXCELLENT work environments. Mrs. Leiker was offered a job of $100 an hour almost fifteen years ago just to work for a computer science company that was in high demand of Visual Basic programmers at the time and the friend who was trying to do the convincing automatically received a $10,000 bonus JUST FOR GETTING a programmer to come to that company!
For this week's journal entry, please write for five minutes minimum on this topic. What are your thoughts on taking technology courses? Do you feel they are important? Why or why not? What courses have you taken already? Which do you plan to take? If you dislike technology, do you think it is important for your future to try to take courses that might change that opinion? Do you know somebody who needs a technology course? Do you think they would want to take the courses that are available to you here at NHS? I think that technology courses are important for students to have because the world is changing and to have as much information on the topic the more you will understand. I have taken multimedia, graphic design and accounting/personal fiance. If you are going into any thing with computers or social media, taking these courses will help you to educate your self before you go on to future schooling. I know plenty of people that plan to pursue jobs in the technology field. They wou;d have wanted and taken the courses at NHS. Did you know that Twitter, facebook and YouTube are blocked in China? And now Pinterest. The government doesn't allow their citizens to use those networks. This kind of control and denial of rights is getting harder and harder to pull off in a world of transparency, collaboration and sharing.
Do a google search on this blocking of social media. Why would a country block social media? Use Google if you can't figure that out on your own. What do you think of this blocking? Do you agree with it? Do you disagree with it? Write on this topic for five minutes minimum in your journal Countries would ultimately block there social media accounts so that their citizens will not be able to see what other(better) countries are like. I think that every person has the right to look up whatever they want no matter were you live. There should be no ban on any type of social media. The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn. Being so closed minded will make you fall behind in life. Being able to learn is one of the most special things in the world. But when you learn something that is wrong, sometimes you have to unlearn and then relearn it in a different way. To be able to relearn this and be opened minded about the learning of new things will not be the most illiterate.
According to many experts, the ability to think like a computer is an important skill for our future. The processes used to narrow and organize information can be applied to life in many other ways.
I think that organizing on the computer is important to our future as well. But I think that not thinking like a computer is better. Not to be programmed and think outside of the box are what allows us to make technological improvements in the first place. I think that computer are a goof tool to use to navigate through life but not to control us. I think it can be used in many way besides social media like organizing and processioning data, the more you practice with navigating information the easier it will be for you. i think that we should not think like a computer but as ourselves. How can you better plan and prepare when going on vacation or other events like a conference or trip? Do you leave it up to somebody else to make all the planning when visiting somewhere new? Do you know which direction to walk when you walk out of the hotel? Do you think it would be a good idea to prepare yourself? Why or why not?
You can research where you are going for weather to prepare clothing options. my mom and her travel agent came up with our spring break destination along with 9 other couples that were going. I knew where to go and to walk, the first day you are a little unfamiliar but after the week you move around just fine. I think it was a good idea to look up the resort and the surroundings. Watch the video called the CHANGE MAKERS which is an old commercial from Apple to challenge people to 'think different'. The people in this video all inspired people to think different. They challenged people to think about change and were inspirational. For this journal entry, think about people in your life who are the 'change makers'. The rebels who challenge the rules and get you to think different. Are you one of them? Why or why not? What does it mean when Apple states, "Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do."
After watching the video from Apple I can see how people are inspired to think different. I think that I am one of those people who think differently and see the world different. I am like that because I am hard working and want to make myself and others better. the ones who are crazy enough to change the world are those that people underestimate and think are crazy. But the truth is if you put your mind to something you will be able to change anything that you want. I love that we will have flying cars in the future. My concerns are that are they self driving, and do you need training to drive/fly them? I feel as though this will create many jobs as to making and producing them along with many to fix and repair them. This will be a huge boom in technology involving vehicles and I think younger students and people will drive them more then the older adults. I believe that you will need some kind of training just like you would to drive a car. Maybe the age of 18. Overall I think that this is a good idea and technological advancement.
One thing that really struck me in this article is this: Don’t waste your time on work that you don’t enjoy. It is obvious that you cannot succeed in something that you don’t like. Patience, passion, and dedication come easily only when you love what you do. You still have choices to make regarding what you want to do with your life.
What can you do today to give yourself more choices? What I can do today is that I can study and work hard to get better grades. this highers my chances of getting a scholarship and, making it easier to get into a college that will give me a good degree. Why is it important to find work that you enjoy and can be passionate about? If you don't have a job that makes you happy, you are getting up everyday to go to something that you hate this over a long period of time will result is many things. you will begin to hate your life because you are not happy living in it. How does this correlate with happiness? When you get up everyday and go do something you love this makes you more happy then going to something that you hate day in and day out. This year in district 8 a private school has won the championship. Again. This has happened way to much over the last couple years. Now MHSAA has been aware of this but they continue to do nothing about it. The solution is to have two different brakets, one with private schools an done with public schools.
